Andrew + Marie - Destination ... Amherstburg?

brandon-scott-wedding-photographer-1Some of our favourite weddings are destination weddings. There is something about packing your things and going somewhere you have never been with all of your friends for the sole purpose of celebrating and partying the night away.

This past weekend we spent an awesome day at a destination wedding. The destination was not ‘Club Medd’ but rather ‘Club Marontate’… the home of Mr & Mrs Marontate (the brides parents) in Amherstburg.

I know what you are thinking… Amherstburg!?  but bear with me…

Almost every single guest flew/drove in for Andrew & Maries wedding day.  From Toronto, Alberta, British Columbia, Ottawa, New York, Atlanta, Florida and more.  Now you know what I mean when I say it was a destination wedding.

We had our hearts set on going to Fort Malden to take photos so we stopped in and spoke with the manager before meeting up with the wedding party for pics.  ‘No problem at all, we are open until 7pm today’.  As we pulled into the parking lot at 5:30...they were closed!  I pretty much saw Brandon’s heart sink, he wanted to shoot there so bad!  So, boys being boys, and them somehow ALL thinking alike, Brandon and Andrew suggested ‘lets just lift up Marie over the fence!’

This was a tall metal fence with spikes on top!  Seriously, in my mind this was not going to happen, I was not going to let it happen. I couldn’t let our bride become a human shish kabob on her wedding day.  But Marie just smiled and said ‘OK, lets do it!’

I was both laughing and shocked as I watched Andrew lift Marie up in her wedding dress and pass her to Brandon on the other side of the fence.

A Perfect Day Wedding Planning did amazing job organizing this wedding.  The reception looked like it was taken straight out of a Hollywood movie.  While overlooking the sailboats passing by, the guests mingled on the waterfront.  From the paper lanterns hanging in the tent to the candy buffet and fireworks just after sunset, every detail was thought out carefully.

The night ended with everyone packed on the dance floor thanks to an incredible band who absolutely blew the roof off!
